Executive Sous Chef Asmadi Kassim has designed a special menu that will be rotated daily to feature interesting dishes,
including Bubur Lambuk, Assam Laksa, grilled chicken, chicken murtabak, Ketam Lemak Seri Menanti, and Daging Briyani India.
"We called this the Sajian Kampung & Ala Nyonya because we want to create the cosy and warm feeling of eating home-cooked cuisine, just like the warmth of the Ramadan month," Asmadi said.
Highlights include kambing kari madras, sayur lemak nangka, udang chili daun selasih, ketam masak cendawan, sotong cili pekan, rending burung puyuh, bendi goreng pedas and pucuk manis lemak puteri.
The appetizers include kerabu mangga, kerabu ayam, kerabu daging, urab ulam raja, urab daun pegaga and acar rampai. Unique dishes that will whet one's appetite include the typical nyonya otak-otak, satay celup, assam fish and chicken rendang.
Fans of noodles can enjoy different types of serving daily ranging from me goreng mamak, mee siam goreng, mee goreng jawa and mee hoon goreng ‘Thai’ style garnish choices of bean sprouts, tofu, egg, and onions.
The buffet will also feature dishes such ayam pangkalongan, sotong sumbat sambal ambillar and soup ayam puteri. Diners can then pick between different rice dishes ranging from white steamed rice, nasi bukhari, nasi daging ratna sari and nasi acheh to suit the various dishes.
Of course, no meal is complete without dessert and the colourful array of assorted Malay kuih alongside the ice kacang and cendol pulut help exemplify Malaysia’s racial diversity. The Seri Nyonya Peranakan Restaurant dining part will play host to various stalls that offer Malay and nyonya sweets, puddings and cakes.
To top off the breaking-of-fast experience, there will be ghazal performances featuring an entertaining ensemble belting out traditional Malay tunes.
The buffet begins throughout the whole month of Ramadhan and is priced at RM55++ for adults and RM32++ for children below 12 while buffet at the Hotel’s Rest House Café themed “Muhibbah” located on the ground floor, is priced at RM 60++ for adults and RM 36++ for children below 12. Ramadhan at Hotel Equatorial Melaka will be served from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
